Popular and electronic music is appealing to many students, however, this is often not a component incorporated into string classes. Engaging students by teaching them about music they listen to on a day-to-day basis is one strategy to maintain interest and enthusiasm among students.  Electronic music a relatively new addition to the string world and it provides the opportunity to learn and develop improvisation skills. This session will explore how to use popular and electronic music in your high school string classroom to learn basic improvisational techniques, improve listening and ear training skills, and broaden the scope and breadth of the string classroom.
